That famous Golden temperament (Go back to Goldens topic list)
| Goldens are renowned for their gentle, easygoing ways. They are a happy, people-oriented dog, patient with children and adaptable to new situations. They are friendly to a fault, always greeting people with a smile and a wag, often carrying a toy (or shoe, or pillow, or sock, or laundry--you get the idea). They most definitely are not guard dogs. They do not do well in a kennel environment; they need plenty of human interaction. As sporting dogs, they follow their noses and may wander off. They can't be counted on to "stick around" and should not be left unsupervised.
Bad breeding has created some Goldens with questionable temperaments. Do not assume that all Goldens are as sweet as yours.
